Annual herbaceous plant from 30 to 60cm high
Originally from the Middle East, anise (green) has spread throughout the Mediterranean basin. It is used to flavour pastries, including Corsican canistrelli and gingerbread. Often used to relieve indigestion, anise already flavored pastries and wines in Ancient Rome and Egypt.
