Ganshu Bay

It's one of the peppers in the piper Zanthoxylum family, characterized by its fruity citrus flavor and anesthetic properties. It's also the only African Zanthoxylum!

Like the rest of its family, this spice is very fruity, incredibly fresh, with hints of herbs. There are hints of lemongrass, tangerine, orange and yuzu. Its flavor is similar to the Batak berry.
The little brown berry grows in the highlands of western Cameroon.
The Ganshu berry grows wild and is harvested by the Bamikélés people, who use it both to treat themselves and to season their traditional cuisine.
