Organic Kaloupilé (Caloupilé) leaf comes from the Murraya koenigii tree, which can grow up to 8 m tall. Imported by the Indians to Reunion Island, the English call it the curry leaf. Discovered by two great botanists in India in the 18th century, this highly aromatic plant is used in many Indian and Burmese massals.
Fresh Kaloupilé (Caloupilé bio) leaves can only be bought in the places where they are grown (India, Sri Lanka, Reunion, Mauritius, etc.), as the leaves are only weather-resistant for 24 hours, so it is very rare to find them in Europe.
The English call it "curry leaf", probably because it can be used in certain blends, but doesn't have the aroma of a curry as such.
