Organic ground ginger

Strongly aromatic, organic ginger powder is tangy when fresh. The English use it in sweet dishes, but candied it becomes sweet while retaining its initial aromatic strength.
Ginger is one of theworld's most widely used spices, along with turmeric, and is the perfect flavouring for desserts, Indian curries and Chinese-style wok dishes. Dried ginger has a different aroma to fresh ginger.

It is the cousin of galanga, which has a more pungent, peppery nose and, above all, is less sweet and tangy.

This root ( zingiber officinale) is used in a number of spice blends, particularly curries, and provides the strength and heat that chillies (which we exclude from our blends) do not. We don't use chillies (with the exception of Espelette, Ancho and Aleppo chillies) for the good reason that they totally distort the organoleptic properties of our spice blends.
