The tegument is the envelope (cuticle, tegumentum in Latin) of the seed in botany. Psyllium is a herbaceous plant in the Plantaginaceae family. It is grown for its laxative properties. Psyllium goes by many names, including Indian plantain or plantain pucier (psyllium in Greek means flea, a term related to the smallness of its seeds), Plantain psyllium or flea grass. Two types of psyllium exist: brown plantain (Plantain de Provence) and blond plantain (Plantain des Indes) our Plantago ovata Forssk.
