Hand-harvested salt from the Salar d'Uyuni, better known as the "Sea of Salt" or the "Bolivian Salt Desert". High salting power.
At an altitude of 3700m lies the Uyuni salar, an enormous expanse of salt, the largest in the world at over 10,000km2. During the first three months of the year, this expanse is covered by 30 to 40 cm of water in an absolutely flat and uniform manner, which is why the salt from this area is nicknamed mirror salt (the photos taken at this time are truly astonishing). Swept by the winds all year round, these stretches of water dry out, leaving only the salt to be harvested.
COOKING: non-iodized, unrefined, low in sodium chloride, it can be used like fleur de sel on a daily basis.
