Craftsmanship rooted in Guadeloupe

Guadeloupe spices are the fruit of unique craftsmanship, combining tradition and respect for nature. Hand-grown on small plots in Le Lamentin and Petit-Bourg, in Basse-Terre, this spice stands out for its exceptional qualities. Each stage, from cultivation to processing, is carried out with care to preserve its authentic flavours.

Sustainable organic farming

Certified organic, our cultivation methods are entirely natural. The soil is worked by hand with tools such as the grelinette, and turmeric is harvested without the use of mechanization. Drawing inspiration from permaculture and syntropic agriculture, the farmers foster a harmonious ecosystem, planting trees that perform several functions:

  • Creation of microclimates conducive to crops,
  • Nitrogen fixation, essential for plant growth,
  • Support for future vanilla and pepper vines.

Ecological, artisanal processing

The spices are then processed using environmentally-friendly methods. They are washed with rainwater and prepared by hand. Turmeric is dried in solar- and wind-powered dryers. This artisanal process guarantees high-quality products while minimizing ecological impact.

Healthy, pesticide-free soil

Before obtaining organic certification, rigorous tests are carried out to ensure that the soil is free from pesticides, including the infamous chlordecone. Only certified organic compost, produced locally in Guadeloupe, is used to enrich the soil, in the interests of sustainability and respect for the environment.

Transport with a low ecological footprint

In keeping with their commitment to the environment, the spices they export, mainly turmeric, are transported to Europe by sailboat. This environmentally-friendly mode of transport considerably reduces the products' carbon footprint, while maintaining a direct link between Guadeloupe and international markets.

This model of farming and processing comes at a cost, but reflects a deep commitment to preserving natural resources while offering superior quality spices that are both authentic and environmentally friendly.
